Nursery

This section won an award from the ministry of health in 1996. The facilities of this ward consist of 30 cots, 6 incubators, and 5 recovery beds for intensive care. The ward has the benefit of highly trained nurses working closely with the specialists providing all the necessary services. The newborns babies are divided in three categories :

Well baby
These babies are the ones that have no complications after birth and upon the examination by the specialist and confirmation of the normal condition are being vaccinated and referred to the nurses for normal care.

Sick Baby
babies with low Apgar score are visited by the specialists and examinations such as blood test, radiography, and echocardiography are carried out and if required special cares are provided.

Premature babies/ babies with respiratory problems
generally these babies are born before time and therefore may have underdeveloped organs which require supports such as; respiration aid, heart and lung monitoring.
Activities
Activities of this ward can be summarized as follow;
- Primary care of well babies
- Supervision of the mother and the baby
- Breast feeding and baby care training of the mother
- Provision of special care for sick or premature bay
- Client guidance and consultation after discharge
- Reply to all the queries and consultation after checking out of the patient
